Chocolate milk... who doesn't love it (if you don't I'm sorry but I think we have to reevaluate our friendship haha) ok just joking, but seriously try this and i'm sure you'll be a fan!!

Whenever my boyfriend comes over he always seems to sneak a store bought chocolate milk into my fridge... now for good reason, chocolate milk has actually be shown to be on of the best post workout drinks. The milk contains vital proteins and chocolate is a great source of magnesium for muscle recovery! Anyway with chocolate milk constantly in my fridge it was hard to not enjoy a glass every now and then, and well that reminded me just how amazing it tastes!

I love it, but I hate the CRAP that store bought chocolate milks contain. So thats why I decided it was my mission to create a health version that tastes just as good. Well I did it.... and in my opinion it tastes even better! This version is low on sugar and is a nutrient rich post workout drink! In the time it takes for him to pour a glass, I have a smoothie that is jam packed full of goodness! 

Cashews: protein, energy and potassium (to help regulate water balance in the body)

Cacao: Magnesium (to promote muscle recovery)

Water: to rehydrate your body

Milk: Protein, more specifically whey which is fast absorbing for post workout recovery

Tahini: protein, more specifically slow absorbing to promote muscle synthesis and keep you full!

Healthy (Easy) Chocolate Milk

1 cup milk (plant based for vegan)

1 cup water

1/2 cup raw cashews

3 dates

1 heaped tbsp cacao

1 tbsp tahini

3-4 ice cubes

Method:

Remove the pips from the dates and then add all ingredients to a blender. Blend on high for 2-3 mins until it is smooth and the milk foams up a little! Divide between two glasses and enjoy!
